LFS Comp...again.

The J2s had their LFS competition over Fri and Sat and ended the whole thing as Cup semifinalists. Its frustrating yes,but considering that they fought hard and got to Cup,I think its pretty good.I think I've forgotten to mention that Nicole's batch lost in the semis against a LFS team but fought back to get 3rd.Each batch goes through their own set of trials unique to the team, but the end result will always be the same:going through the 'system' together and coming out stronger. In mentality,in character.Sometimes even better attitude and tolerance. It is called a competition because u are there to compete and there will always be winners and losers. Its only how u label urselves.
Is winning a medal/trophy really that important?Or is it the recognition and fame that comes along with it?I rather u girls played hard and lose at the Cup semifinal stage than played lousy and lose purposely in the stage group and go on to win the plate champions.U aint showing ur opponents respect, not playing in the spirit of the game, and not showing URSELVES the respect.Yes maybe winning something at this stage is important, but so's ur integrity. This would be familiar to Linin's batch.Toughen up people. It's how u bound back after the knocks.

Feedback

Ok this entry is for the current J2s. I'm sorry Lois I actually find it funny U've been called noise.Wahahahahaha.Ok.(Sorry I'm still laughing away). Do you remember that I didnt get ur name right initally as well?Xiaoqi,we don't remember names that fast unless its an easy-to-remember Christian name.Give the new coach sometime. He needs more time to pin the names to the faces.Noelle, what's his style? How did he bring things across to all of u?You need time to adjust too,so give yourself and the rest more time as well.

All the best for Navy touch tmr.U'll see my NTU coach(I think of her more as a peer) there refereeing.Remember to get the ball near to ur own tryline. Just move forward.

Final training at Sentosa

Yesterday's session at Sentosa was...fun. The J1s are starting to get the hang of 3v2 and are playing much better, hands and defence.Lois's and Rebekah's dives are really fantatsic and hopefully the rest of the girls catch up on that. The girls went into the water after training, and boy u should see how siao Lois got, screaming like a mad woman and trying to squeeze wet sand into people's shirts.Eees.

All of us went to Sakae Sushi for a team lunch after that.Sat with Lois and Daria and I think for that period of 1 hour I heard the most number of 'I want to burp' and 'I want to fart' in my last 5 years. The grossed out look on the waiter standing behind Lois was hilarious, and embrassing at the same time.Ai yo next time I'm not going to sit with them already.

Friendly at NTU

I was pretty pleased and happy with the way the girls performed today. They scored the opening try and had numberous breaks as acting halfs. Their defence was ok, considering the fact that I didnt concentrate so much on D.

Friendlies

Had a reasonably good outing in the friendlies yesterday. Girls did pretty well, and I hoped they've picked up a few points. Now that they have the structure in the centre, the next step is to let the creative juices flow together with the structure. This comes with playing together as a team and learn about one another's preferences and strengths. Overall I was pretty happy with the results, however if better is possible, then good is not enough.

Duped?

Been trying ways and means to get outside fields so that the girls can continue to train when I was told that JJ field will be closed FOR MAINTENANCE. But after an accidental discovery through Eda, coach of PJC, what I came to understand (with no verification yet) is the the Inter-school soccer competition is being held at the JJC FIELD almost every Wed 3-6pm.Wth.What does this imply?!

A long Sat

Attended the AGM yesterday, and the whole thing started late. And I thought I was already very late. Had a talk with the J1s and made clear some things to the whole group.Oh boy I was back to dealing with emotions and attitudes.Hopefully at the end of their JC life they can grow to be mentally stronger people.

Testimonal match was ok la,didnt expect the J1s to really be able to create an upset, but I gonna give points to them for effort put in.(Wa piang I'm still not happy they didnt do the scoop)

As tradition goes it was speech- handing over presentation time and I received a 2008 calender of their faces. They inserted a photo of Aaron and I as the last page, those sneaky people.'What the hell!' was the initial reaction.

Received a few individual gifts from the J2s,and this one from Tzeling blew me away. This is total creativity lor!Tzeling you should try design courses!

Thanks Qingling and Nicole for the gifts as well.Linin and Nicole's speech showed me I have done what I have set out to do since picking up coaching. It was a fruitful journey. And I think this year might be a good time for ending this journey.Ai ya dun know la.

After the rain.

To all J2s,pls read the following. Its what Su wanted to say to all of U:

'Dear Ashley, Yan Ping (or Serene), Nicole, Qing Ling, Roxane, Tze Ling, Hui Jun, Sharlene, Geraldine, Ming Ee, Linin and Ruth

Its been an awesome 5 months training and playing with you guys. Being part of your highs, lows and nonsense is something probably no senior would have experienced. Your nationals has made a great impression in my life. It felt like I was part of a team again. You are a unique team. Never had I imagine that the group of noise making trouble causing bunch would change so much, and achieve so much in so little time.

You guys went out there and overcame your biggest obstacle; yourself.
You created new memories and pushed aside the past. You showed strength in character and outdid expectations. You made JJC touch proud.

A medal means nothing. You have great memories, a great team with great friends. These are your medals of success that you will have to cherish.

Thank you guys for letting me be a part of this. Li Min often reminded us that we are in JJ to study first before anything. Its time to start working for your 4As and be like Leann!

All the best and I do hope to see you guys again.

Love,
Suhanthi '

I think I'm being infected by the sadness bug. Now that I have some time to myself,I started tearing for no apparent reason.Oh gosh I have no idea I can be so emo.Sheesh.And with that I end off with some pictures of last year's AGM and a quote from the captain of the USA Women Soccer team:

"I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team,I defer to it and scarifice for it,because the team, and not the individual,is the ultimate champion."

M1 National Schools Touch Rugby Series

It was the last offical game for the J2s and the first(the beginning) for the J1s.It turned out to be a pretty good day for both, just a pity there was no medals to bring back. However the memories of this day will forever with them and no one can take it away. I was a very proud coach today. Both teams carried out pretty much what I told them to do,and it got them far.

J1s:
In their grouping,
Won SRJC B 3-0
Drew Bukit Batok Sec 1-1
Proceed on to Cup semis, lost to NYJC 2-0. The first try from NYJC wasnt placed on the tryline so it shouldn have been a try,but the 2nd one they swerved and got one more.It was poor communication off defence on our part.

J2s:
In their grouping,
Won Innova JC 5-0
Draw SAJC A 0-0
Won TJC A 5-0
Won SP 1-0
Procced on to Cup semis, lost to NJC in a close game 3-2.It was a very exciting match, with NJC opening up the score line.JJC fought back with a try about 2 mins later. With the score tied at 1-1,NJC hit the centre gap hard and scored.2-1.About 3 mins later, their dummy half scooped and NJ scored again cos we didnt react after they scooped. After that Nicole took the ball, did a quick jerk and outran their wing.It was 3-2 to NJC. We played on but the there simply wasnt enough time. The game ended to NJ.
After that most of the J2s cried their hearts out.It was really heart wrenching to see them crying so hard.June and Su almost cried out too. For a while I was caught up in the moment too,but collected my thoughts and feelings .If I've cried it would have been a free for all,the tears will just flow and flow and flow.

After 15 mins and with a whole lot of words, managed to convince them that it was and will always be a good memory.I understand that they feel a lot cos they really cared and worked damn hard, but I also need to make sure that they understood that it was also about overcoming the odds, building up character and applying the lessons learnt in touch to their decisions made in life. I think they'll make it through.Just look at them throwing ice into one another's jersery and shorts.Tsk tsk.*roll eyes*

Gave them the personalised photo frames after they've calmed down SLIGHTLY. Think they liked it.Mwahaha.Its worth my 2 short late nights ~Gave gifts to Su,Leanne and Mas.Really apprecipate them helping out and coming when i asked them too. After that the J2s went berserk again...... Oh and ..I WANT PICTURES SU AND NICOLE!
Let's put it this way.I was really happy. With them and for them.
